With sand and without

A couple of my recent Michigan plein air paintings.

The first was from atop Sleeping Bear Point first thing in the morning. So calm and quite. I was about a half-a-mile above the beach on the dune but I could hear the gulls splashing in the water below.

The second one is at Portage Lake, again, in the morning. When I arrived you could barely make out the opposite shore through the fog. It began to burn off as I was finishing.
