One after noon while walking around a park area on Maui looking at the palms and mountains, I ran into someone else doing the same. “Are you looking for a painting?” he said. Obviously another artist. It was Carleton Kinkade, a local resident who was part of the Plein Air Invitational. We both set-up in about the same spot for the late-afternoon light. A little later two others joined in the fun.
I tried, in about two hours, to get an average of the light. By the end it was much more dramatic. I'll have to do it again. I didn't like the pale blue-green, contemporary little house on the left so I gave it more of an island feel.
Afterwords, I joined the others at the Pioneer Inn for some much needed thirst quenching.
