Manitou Music Festival

I'm happy to announce that my painting “Rising Moon” was chosen for the 2012 Manitou Music Festival poster.

From their website:
“Founded in 1991 by members of the Glen Arbor Art Association, the Manitou Music Festival takes place in the pastoral splendor of Leelanau County, in the Northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. This "Land of Delight” has long attracted artists, writers, musicians and vacationers with its dramatic settings of towering dunes, pure inland lakes, lush hardwood and pine forests and the majesty of Lake Michigan. The Manitou Music Festival presents exciting and diverse concerts featuring national and regional performers of classical, jazz, and folk music in idyllic outdoor & family friendly locations.

Each year the Glen Arbor Art Association selects a painting which conveys a sense of the Glen Arbor area for the annual Manitou Music Festival poster. The limited edition posters are hugely popular and sold on our web-site, at the Art Association office, and selected shops and art galleries in Leelanau County.”

The Glen Haven Cannery is a historic building in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, part of the National Parks system. There are two islands off the lakeshore, North and South Manitou, that the festival gets it's name from.

One of my favorite places to paint. I'm honored that the painting was chosen.
