Heading South

A small studio piece, warming up for my upcoming trip to Hawaii. Two stops, Kauai and Maui, panels and paints are packed. Should be able to deliver some new work to Village Galleries too.

Slowly sinking

I just got around touching up this this plein air painting from last summer that I’d never finished. A very hot day as I recall, and the light had changed so much, I packed it in. It’s a spot I’d driven by many times at the “narrows” between the Leelanau Lakes in Michigan. This boathouse had seen better days, which is what, of course, made it interesting.

Snow

I've been meaning to paint more snow for a while. Finally got to it after a trip to Michigan.

Like many of my summertime paintings, I'm inspired by sunlight and shadow. I enjoy trying to capture  the dynamics of cool vs. warm.
